Following the thread of yesterday's post:
Black History Month is upon us! Every year I post a black history fact on my page in hopes of educating myself and others of lesser know black achievements.
Some people condone BHM because it gives African Americans a chance to throw their culture in other's faces and shame the white race.
I have never been an advocate for that black history month. I interpret this time as a chance to become more familiar with our history and learn more about myself.
That being said, I want to provide a few music related BHM facts! in every web post this month.
BHM Fact #1: Black Swan Records, founded in 1921 by Harry Pace in Harlem, was the first U.S. record label owned and operated by African-Americans. It was originally the Pace Phonograph Corporation and was renamed Black Swan Records after the 19th century opera singer Elizabeth Taylor Greenfield, who was known as the Black Swan.
